British Archaeological Reports have been publishing books in archaeology for over 25 years. It publishes in five major languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian - and it has a high international reputation, with books selling world-wide.

John and Erica Hedges have worked in archaeological publishing for the past 19 years. Since 1997 we have been one of the two publishers of British Archaeological Reports and prior to that we were the founding directors of Tempvs Reparatvm, the company that took over BAR's production in1991.

• Within BAR we publish books on all archaeological topics, periods, from the Early Palaeolithic to the Late Middle Ages, and geographical areas. We publish doctoral theses, monographs, conference proceedings, catalogues, excavation reports and others
• We publish books of high academic standard aimed at the archaeological profession;
  BARs are written by archaeologists for archaeologists
• Publishing in 5 languages: in English, Spanish, German, French and Italian.
• We do not charge for publishing with us: once we have accepted a book for publication in BAR and we receive a manuscript that is ready for printing (prepared according to our specifications) we cover all cost for production. Authors are entitled to some free copies, further copies at a discount, and we supply books to reviewers.
• Authors are in total control of the contents of their books and of the time needed for producing the manuscript; deadlines are set by the authors with no added pressure from us.
• We produce our books using modern printing technology; BARs these days can have some colour pages and can include CDroms. Authors supply their manuscripts to us (either in paper form or electronically) ready for printing; our task is to advise and support authors with the preparation of the manuscript, and to give any help that might be needed.
• Our production times are quick and, once we receive a manuscript that is complete and ready for publication, we will have it printed and published within a few weeks.

  All our books are distributed and sold through Hadrian Books Ltd, the former publishers of BARs, and their well established and extensive distribution network.
